These days, practically everything is electronic - scooters are no exception.  To keep up with this generation, Razor has taken the classic ride on and tweaked it up by adding a motor and battery system.  So if you are shopping around for a 13 year old or up, the Razor E300 Electric Scooter and the Razor E300S Seated Electric Scooter are definitely worth taking a look at. Now, although shopping online has tons of advantages, there are some setbacks too- you can’t really look and hold whatever it is you want to buy.  So your judgment purely relies on the pictures that are posted and the reviews that you read.  So, from one internet surfer to another, here is an unbiased review on the Razor E300 Electric Scooter and the Razor E300S Seated Electric Scooter with pretty much everything you need to know from the company, to the product, to the pros, and even the cons.

Razor Scooters - The Company and Brand

When it comes to electric scooters, Razor is one of the most popular brands.  Although this company does not really have a long history behind it as it was founded only in the year 2000, it does hold the title of “toy of the year” for the Kick scooter as well as other awards from quite reliable sources such as Sports Illustrated for Kids, Parenting, Parents, Nick Jr., and even the U.S News & World Report to name a few to compensate.

The E300 Battery:

Both the E300 and the E300S are electronic eco friendly scooters.  So that pretty much means that you have to plug it in and charge it up.  But if you are really a serious buyer, it is only normal that you want to know more than just the fact that you have to stick it in a socket.  These two scooters have a 24 V, made up of two 12V, sealed lead acid battery system.  This system supposedly takes around 8 to 12 hours to fully charge, however, based on what others have said, when new and in good condition, 8 hours should be enough.  A scooter charged for that long will run up to 40 minutes of continuous use.  So let’s just say that that is just about enough time for your kiddo to make a couple circles around the block or even complete the newspaper run in the neighborhood.

One good thing that you should take note of is that the charger that comes with these scooters is UL approved.  More than just a stamp, this actually means that it is certified that is 100% safe to use.  That is as long as you use it accordingly, of course.

The E300 Motor:

Another thing that you should definitely read on is the motor.  It is kinda like the heart of the scooter after all, so you wouldn’t want to have a weak ticker, would you?  Rocket claims that the motor is “high performance”.  But what exactly does that mean?  To help you out a bit here are some features of the motor. 

First, it is chain driven.  Basically, it is the same mechanism that you have on motorcycles as well as regular bikes.  That is probably a good thing since that has been tried and tested for years.  Second, the motors that they slapped on the E300 and E300S are high torque.  That means that you won’t have to get off and push it up every time you meet a hill or slope of sorts.  It is powerful enough to make the climb- as long as it isn’t steep.  Third, it has variable speeds.  So unlike other scooters that give you one or two options, you can actually raise this to its limit- which is 15 mph.  

The Controls:

Both the Razor E300 Electric Scooter and the Razor E300S Seated Electric Scooter are also controlled the same- with twist-grip acceleration.  Simple enough, once you have turned the power on and have the engine all revved up, you can make the scooter go faster or slower by simply moving your wrist.  How easy is that?  Even stopping is simple.  All you have to do is clutch on the hand held brakes.  That is it.  Remember that you are shopping for a young crowd- so the simpler, the better.  It probably doesn’t get any simpler than this.

The Wheels:

As for the wheels, you will probably be pleased to know that both have 10 inch pneumatic tires- one for the front and one for the back.  Pneumatic tires are also pretty much what is used on other rides.  These are made of rubber and are filled with compressed air.  Much better than other kinds, these tires are not only durable but they are also supposed to make the ride much smoother.  Since they are extra wide, you can also expect extra stability.

Other Specs For the Razor E300 scooters

All scooters in the 300 line are suitable for kids that are 13 years and up.  Kinda’ like the ones in the 200 line, but these have a higher weight limit being 220 pounds as well as a higher speed limit.

The Big Difference:

Most but not all features ad specs are the same, and I’m not just talking about the model name.  Although, the name already does say a lot about what makes these two electric scooters different.  But since I did say that this would be an in-depth review, here is a more thorough explanation on each one.

The Razor E300 Electric Scooter is a stand on ride.  But aside from the features that were already mentioned, what makes this one different from others on the market is that this one has a super sized deck and frame.  In other words, this scooter is perfect for the bigger kids- not necessarily older, but bigger, if you know what I mean.

As for the Razor E300S Seated Electric Scooter, it is more than just what you think it is.  The E300S can actually turn into a stand up ride by removing the seat post and padded seat.  So it is like you get both kinds in one.  Manufacturers say that it is easy to take out and out back on- however, it does take quite some time.  You wouldn’t want to risk the seat falling off after all.  It also boasts of a super sized fame an deck.  But one more difference is that this one has a kick stand.

One more thing you have to know is that both electric scooters require assembly.  The good thing is that each one comes complete with all of the tools you need as well as an instruction manual.
